Hybrid Racing: Implement current design into Joomla/Drupal and Magento Commerce (USA)

Please only email if you have working knowledge of

JOOMLA or Drupal

&

Magentocommerce

Below is a series of questions and answers so you can grasp what we are looking for.

Tell us a about your company, product, service, or organization?

We sell race car parts. More specifically we sell and manufacture race car parts for Hondas and Acura’s. We not only make our own parts but we also offer other manufactures products.

We are working on increasing our product offering beyond Honda and Acura over the next year.

Are you seeking design/development work for a new or existing project?

Yes, we are seeking design and development work for an existing project.

What is you current (or intended) URL?

www.hybird-racing.com and we just purchased www.hybridracing.com so this would need to be incorporated into the site. We would need some advice since the current domain hybrid-racing has been up and running we may just make the other direct to it.

Give us some words, phrases and/or links to web sites that describe the look and feel you are after?

I like the overall feel of our site but it has a flat feel to it. So I am thinking update the look of what we have while adding your own flair to it. I am thinking a little web 2.0ish and almost minimalist so we can direct people to the most important content and not confuse them as soon as they hit the home page. Here is a JPEG of what I started putting together in photoshop.

As for sites that I like:

I like the use of the layered color here and the section on the bottom that’s darker so the page seems smaller but there is relevant content.

http://www.knoxlife.org/

I like the large search box very easy to use etc.

http://www.thefmd.com/index.php

This one is clean:

http://partlysunny.ca/

http://studio3k.com/

I like how in the top image you can click to go to the next image etc.

http://www.edno.bg/

Things I don’t like about my current site?

1. No content management system for the pages, originally we asked for this but it slowly turned into we didn’t get it. This is for all of Tech articles/Gallery etc.

2. Font is small and hard to read in most places. 3.Clutter look and rather confined since it uses the grey bars on the outside (which I like but maybe it could be a little larger?)

4.The HR products pages do nothing to capture a lead or move them along to purchase the product…. Other than the super small purchase now button.

5.The site is designed to move people to their place. For example I want to move people along to either A. Purchase a product. B. give me the email so they can eventually purchase a product. C. Find technical information in regards to there already purchased product or service. D. Find useful information to hopefully purchase something later (this goes hand in hand with B.)

How does your company differentiate itself from competitors? Do you think your current audience differentiates you from your competition? Please list competitor URLs.

I would like our website to be one of the main differences between us and our competitor. But beyond that we offer a wider range of products and we have a record of the best customer service in our sector of the performance industry. ( I have a lot of them as testimonials that have NOT been added to my site)

www.Hasport.com

www.JHPusa.com

www.Innovativemounts.com

www.lightningmotorsports.com

www.k20a.org – Most of the people located under the vendors section here are my competitors.

What would you like us to provide in terms of deliverables?

Examples: “One layered image comp”, or “Four XHTML pages with CSS,” or “A series of fifteen templates we can use in our Content Management System,” or “A complete design and CMS integration package”

Well a new fresh site (updated to CSS from ASP) with a CMS so that we can add and update as we go. I have a decent ability to create images etc for minor update to the site and I would like to be able to start adding content to my site and stop working on the foundation. (I bet you here this a lot) And a way to track the hits etc (google analytics) this is currently installed but I am not sure if its correct.

If you are providing the backend or CMS, what will this be?

The only thing that we currently have in terms of backend is Word Press for our BLOG here www.hybrid-racing.com/blog and the cart which uses www.RPMware.com if you notice when you click the site it moves over to their servers. The BLOG has yet to be integrated into our site (notice no links to or from the main site) and the CART will need to be updated according to the new design (there supposed to be releasing a new version loosely based off of www.magentocommerce.com) Shit maybe we should just load that cart but it seems rather complex.

I saw this didn’t really dig in too much: http://drupal.org/ or Joomla? Maybe custom.

In number of pages, what is the approximate estimated size of your site?

Not including pages we can add through WP and the CART I am thinking:

1. Home Page 1

2.HR Products I am hoping the layout for this would be to where we could add ad many pages as we wanted based on the number of products we come out with and it would follow a set template. So 1 or 2 and then we can load in the rest.

3.Store- Just match the design

4.Gallery- This one is a little tricky… I am not sure how we can update it but I would like to be able to add featured cars as well as videos and images as we need to to keep it fresh.

5. BLOG- Match the site layout with the new design. www.hybrid-racing.com/blog

6. FORUM- create our own forum using a PHPBB type deal and match to the site layout. (I was actually think let’s do swap-tech.com or Mykswap.com as the forum so it could have its own design and layout so it’s not biased etc.

7. Contact us- 1 Page Please tell us your budget for this project.

NOTE: Some organizations prefer not to disclose their budget in an initial contact, but if you are willing to tell us your budget, it will help us craft an appropriate proposal.

Well I have a lot of the content and a lot of the frame work so I am hoping around 5-8K.

What is the expected launch date of the website?

ASAP, since it’s already up and not nice.

Anything else you’d like us to know?

I also created a list of actual updates to the site that needed to be done so I can provide that to you as well. It’s more of an actual to do list; it’s all loaded into my project manager at www.5pmweb.com so depending on what happens we can create you a log in.

Thanks,

Will
